Did you know that hair are like the fingerprints?
Unique, inimitable, different for every human.
This is why it is sometimes so difficult to choose right hair care method for them.
The cosmetic that worked perfectly on hair of your friend does not necessarily have to do the same for your hair.
The most important thing is to observe hair carefully and determine their type and porosity.
Only then you are able to choose right hair care for your strands.
Below article presents division of hair due to their curl and describes how to take care of the given type.
HAIR DIVISION DUE TO THE HAIR COIL
1. STRAIGHT HAIR
This hair type – differently to wavy hair – is entirely deprived of curl. Straight hair have no wave and in fact are very difficult to provide them with curl even during stylisation (after a short while they go back to their “original state”).
Such hair can be both fine and straight, soft and flat at the same time. These are not stiff and with some effort you can provide them with curl or other shape. However, the process is time consuming and the stylisation will not survive too many hours.
Other type of straight hair are thick and heavy strands, which in fact are in general not easy to subject to stylisation, are stiff and all products for stylisation only unnecessarily weight them down.
Stylisation and hair care of straight hair:
In case of straight hair great are products that increase hair volume. Especially thick hair are prone to lose volume and with improper hair care can become flat. It is best to reach for delicate mousses or liquids and choose oils that do not weight hair down, such as coconut, babassu and palm oil. To preserve hair style use strong hair spray, that will not weight hair down.
If your hair are straight, but not too thick, it is highly probable that your hair have medium porosity. Therefore, reach for argan, macadamia, avocado or sesame oil.
2. WAVES
This is the most popular hair type. You have to be aware that wavy hair are present in few “variations” (depending on the level of coil).
In this group are slightly wavy hair, that are easy to style and can be easily straighten – they are usually highly wavy, but quite soft and fine.
Another type of wavy hair is the one common for ladies with thick hair: hair are a bit stiffer and more difficult to style, but in spite of it these wave significantly. Such hair are relatively heavy, so their waves are more subtle.
Stylisation and hair care of wavy hair:
If wavy hair are delicate and fine, it is worth to invest in products for their volume. To emphasise curl, it is best to choose light mousse and dry them with blow dryer equipped in diffuser. To straighten them, you do not have to use straightener: just some mousse and large, round brush are enough. This type of hair usually have medium or high porosity. You should think of choosing matching hair oil and take care of hair with it to avoid frizz. Natural oils extract hair gloss and emphasise natural beauty.
Thick and heavy waves can sometimes require stronger straightening or curl emphasising cosmetics. You should remember that this hair type, shouldn’t be combed dry, cause this may lead to frizz. It is best to first apply conditioner or lotion then proceed with combing. Thick hair usually have low porosity. These should be systematically nourished with coconut, babassu or palm oil.
3. CURLS
Curly hair instead of – like in case of wavy hair – having S letter shape, create on head spectacular springs. There is some division among them as well. After all, among curly hair can be enumerated curls with loose curl, more visible (and with the most beautiful appearance) on long and healthy hair. Traditional, i.e. the most common appearance of curly hair are these creating tight curls with approximately 2-3 cm/1 in or smaller diameter. The most “extreme” – because the most difficult to tame are fine curls. Curly hair are the most demanding. They can be more dry than straight or wavy hair and more often frizz, but also are difficult to comb out.
Stylisation and hair care of curly hair:
Unfortunately, curls are not easy to tame. In their case work strong hair gel and special creams for stylisation of curls. Great are leave-in conditioners and natural oils. What is more, best are thick oils dedicated for medium and high porosity hair. The more dry curls the higher the porosity. Medium porosity hair like avocado, argan and macadamia oils, while high porosity hair should be condition with grape seed, sunflower seed, linseed or maize oil.
Curly hair require large dose of moisture, that can be provided by natural oils.
4. TIGHT CURLS
These are tightly coiled hair, which sadly are impossible to straighten without hairdressing treatments. Most commonly this type of treatment excessively weights hair down and damages them. This hair type is the most dry one out of all hair types and its care must be intense and focused on the hydration. Tight curls require high amount of emollients.
Stylisation and hair care of tight curls:
In case of this hair, stylisation is perhaps to much to say. Tight curls require not much of straightening and stylisation, but intense nourishment. Deep regeneration, protection and nourishment are provided by hair oils and hair masks (best also combined with natural oils). These can be used pretty often, because tight curls and kinky curls… never have enough. For their hair care choose thick oils, like castor oil or any oil dedicated for low porosity hair (grape seed oil, black seed oil, sunflower oil, maize oil, linseed oil).
With help of natural oils is performed, so called, hair oil treatment. It is treatment requiring application of right hair oil an hair and scalp (hair can be either dry or damp) and leaving it on for a given time. The shortest – an hour, the longest – over night. The more dry hair, the longer oiling they require. Oil should be rinsed after finished oil treatment. For everyday care you can use “milder” form of hair oiling, i.e. apply oil on the hair alone (damp or dry) on the half of their length (more or less from the ears length down). Do not rinse it. Oil will nourish and protect hair till the next hair wash. The perfect solution is also application of oil on hair ends alone – even few times a day. It will work on hair like strengthening serum for the most important and most subjected to damages hair part.
